Welcome.

I am an experienced event and entertainment professional working on performances and events since 2001.

Based in Liverpool, UK, I am seeking work in performance/conference venues, festivals, events and related fields. I have particular experience in working with large performing groups including professional symphony orchestras, and my recent work has focussed on strategy, Health and Safety and development of sustainable and effective teams of Production staff as well as the enhanced production of orchestral music concerts.

Services.

I am able to offer a variety of services:

Technical Management

I can undertake all types of Technical Management activity from line managing and leading a team to sorting, distilling, producing, and disseminating of information of all kinds.
I am experienced in budget and resource management, cost forecasting and maintenance planning.
I am NEBOSH General Certificate qualified and can provide Risk Assessments and Method Statements/Operating Procedures for general tasks and specific events. I am a Technical Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

Event & Venue Technical Services

I can act as a technician for events or venues, operating a variety of equipment as required. I can supervise other staff and contractors, and can liaise with customers and clients.
I can sign-off safety documents and have completed the ‘Three Day Rigging for the Entertainment Industry’ course. I have 11 years of experience ground and top rigging in a concert venue environment (slinging trusses, provision of points/secondary safeties, cable picks using rope or hoist, spreader trusses). I am experienced in the use of chain hoists, wire rope hoists, and, counterweight and hemp flying systems.

Production for Orchestral & Choral performances

I have a commitment to using Production as a method to make music more accessible.
I have worked on a range of projects with Orchestras and Choirs from regular concerts in concert halls to special events featuring lighting, projection and pyrotechnics, and concerts on outdoor stages. I have worked on a variety of concerts featuring collaborations between Orchestras and bands (Elvis Costello, The Lightning Seeds, CAST, Bootleg Beatles) and a large number of 'Live Orchestra with film' concerts (Wizard of Oz, Ben-Hur, City Lights, Pirates of the Caribbean, Home Alone, ET, Psycho).
I have designed, specified and operated lighting and AV for one-night concerts to major Christmas concerts and semi-staged Opera.
I have particular experience in live mixing and recording of choirs and orchestras.
I have extensive experience of setting stages for Orchestras, Choirs and other ensembles, including safe transport of instruments e.g.: percussion and harps.

Lighting | AV/Projection | Stage Management

I can work in performance, event and corporate settings on design and operation of Lighting and AV. I am a 2k/4k Digital and 35mm film Cinema Projectionist.
I am an experienced stage manager adept at dealing with performers and others. I can call shows from script or score.
In addition, I am a competent sound engineer for Conferences and Corporate events, Jazz and Folk groups.

Originally from Somerset, I now live and work in Liverpool, UK.
I trained at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, obtaining a BA (Hons) in Theatre and Performance Technology in 2005. My work experience and training were varied, ranging from working in community halls to regional theatres. I have also worked at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2002 and 2004, and toured a production originated at LIPA to Battersea Arts Centre in 2005.
Between 2006 and 2017 I worked in various roles for Liverpool Philharmonic, beginning as Production Technician and finishing as Technical Manager. During these 11 years, I worked on all kinds of productions and events, in a variety of venues including St George's Hall, Liverpool, and the Royal Albert Hall, London. I worked with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir for all of my tenure, and as a result have a detailed understanding of their needs as performers and the specific ways in which these groups are managed.

I hold Public Liability Insurance cover to £5million and Professional Indemnity cover to £500,000. I hold a full clean UK driving licence (category B).
